Dr Garry Buchan-Hepburn MBBS (Practice Partner)

Dr Buchan-Hepburn graduated from medical school at the University of Queensland in 1969, and completed his residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Before commencing work as a GP he undertook mission hospital work in South Africa for two years where he performed general surgery, trauma surgery, including some open heart procedures, gun shot wounds, tropical diseases and obstetrics. He returned to Australia and began work in general practice in 1972 in Ipswich and settled in Kenmore in 1976. His duties as a GP were broader compared to today including delivering babies, overnight on-call and admitting and caring for patients in the Wesley hospital. Garry founded Kenmore Family Medical Practice.

In terms of clinical experience, there isn’t much Dr Garry has not seen or dealt with at one time or another. He is renowned and much loved for his straight forward and upfront approach and is privileged to have such long term relationships with his patients often treating several generations of the same family. Dr Buchan-Hepburn is skilled in all areas of general practice including men’s health, family planning, paediatrics, travel medicine, skin checks, minor surgery, nursing home and end of life care. Dr Garry teaches medical students and junior doctors at our practice.

Outside of work Garry enjoys travel, skiing, hiking, camping, fishing and four-wheel-driving.


Dr Mai Nguyen MBBS (Hons) FRACGP (Practice Partner)

Mai graduated from the University of Queensland in 1994 with second class honours. She spent several years working in various specialties in the Caboolture, Royal Brisbane, Mater Children's and Canberra hospitals. She also enjoyed brief stints in Emerald, St George, Toowoomba, Mornington Island, Yarrabah Aboriginal Community and Auckland Hospital before and during her general practice training.

Dr Mai joined Kenmore Family Medical Practice as a partner in 2004. She enjoys the broad nature of family practice and focuses on providing a holistic and preventative approach to medical care. Dr Mai cares for nursing home patients at Fairview, Pinjarra Hills and the Iona/ Tarry Brae complex. Dr Mai teaches medical students and junior doctors at our practice.

When off duty, she enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.


Dr Kim Weber MBBS, MD

Dr Weber graduated from the University of Queensland in 1991. After doing her residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital she undertook medical research in the field of ‘cellular adhesion’ at Brigham and Women’s hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston and LMU (Ludwig Maxilliam Universitat) in Munich, achieving a German qualification equivalent to a doctorate (PhD).

Dr Weber has been working in general practice since 2004. Her interests include family planning and women’s health and she is skilled and enjoys all aspects of the field including caring for nursing home and disabled patients. Dr Weber is an experienced practitioner with an enthusiastic, personal approach and empathetic manner. Kim participates in teaching of medical students at our practice.

Outside of work she enjoys travel, hiking, cycling, skiing and is a real dog lover.


Dr Mark McGrath MBBS, MPhil, FRACGP

After graduating from medical school at the University of Queensland in 1998 Dr McGrath worked in various speciality areas including more than five years in ophthalmology (eyes). In 2006 he achieved a Masters degree in medical research (ophthalmology). He found his calling in General Practice in 2008 and worked at various locations in Brisbane before joining the Kenmore family in 2011.

Dr McGrath takes a holistic, thorough and evidence based approach with a personal and empathetic manner and is experienced in all fields of general practice. He has undertaken training in simple psychology and applies these skills to managing chronic diseases, obesity & eating disorders and assisting patients with depression and anxiety. He also enjoys treating men’s health concerns, sports & chronic injuries, performing skin checks and minor surgery.

Dr McGrath also works as an assistant surgeon predominantly at the Wesley Hospital which maintains his skills and a useful link with the hospital and its specialists.

Dr McGrath has a young family and loves living in the community he serves. Outside of work he enjoys mountain-biking and the outdoors.


Dr Karen Yuen MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Yuen graduated in 1981 after working at the Royal Brisbane and Queen Elizabeth hospitals has been working as a GP since 1985 predominantly in Brisbane. Karen also works at the Health Service at the University of Queensland treating students and staff.

She is an experienced, thorough and empathetic GP with skills in all areas of general practice including adolescent health, women’s health and travel medicine. Karen also works in a clinical advisory role. Karen has previously worked as a tutor at the University of Queensland and participates in the teaching of medical students at our practice.

Outside of work Karen enjoys swimming, travel and reading.


Dr Simone Peacock MBBS, BA, Grad Dip Communication

Simone emigrated from South Africa at age ten and is a genuine local having grown up in the local area and continues to live here. She graduated from University of Queensland medical school in 1977. Dr Peacock is a longstanding member of Kenmore Family Medical Practice having started her GP life here in 1981. She has extensive experience in women’s health having worked for Family Planning Queensland for five years and she set up a servicewomen’s health clinic at Enoggera Barracks (2HSB) which she ran for 12 years while continuing her work here at the practice. Since 2006, Dr Peacock has served rural and remote communities with the Royal Flying Doctor Service providing both a general and women’s GP service to the Gulf of Carpentaria and Western Queensland. She attained two further academic qualifications in science communication and journalism in 2000 and 2004.

She is passionate about teaching and has worked as a tutor for the University of Queensland medical school since 2006 and also teaches medical students and junior doctors at our practice.

While maintaining a generalist practice her special interests are women’s health and mental health. Dr Peacock is appreciated by her colleagues for both her experience and gregarious personality.

In her spare time Simone enjoys travel, skiing and is an experienced trekker including Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro/ Nepal and Kokoda.


Natalie Adelholm Receptionist, Practice Manager

Natalie has been a member of our family practice since 2004 initially as a medical receptionist. In 2008 she took on the role of practice manager and performs the indispensable job of keeping our family of staff and patients happy and the practice functioning smoothly. Natalie leads by example with her kind and professional approach, often going above and beyond to ensure our patients’ needs are met.

Previously Natalie has worked as a qualified hairdresser and her hobbies include quilting, family and her two dogs.


Kathy Bail Receptionist, Medical Assistant

Kathy brings more than a decade of experience as a medical receptionist to our practice. She is a genuine people person and cornerstone of our practice. Kathy has worked in diverse fields including rural work and 12 years educating special needs children. She is a qualified medical assistant and is able to perform basic investigations and minor procedures as directed by your doctor.

Kathy is loved for her spontaneous acts of kindness to patients.


Ann Sanders Receptionist

Ann has been working with Kenmore Family Medical Practice as a medical receptionist since 2012 bringing decades of experience from her work in reception and administration in various industries since leaving school. Ann is loved for her kind heart and conscientious approach to her work.

Outside of work she enjoys movies, reading, sewing, tennis and loves dogs.


Jenny Collins Registered Nurse

Jenny’s experience is broad, having nursed in metropolitan and rural Queensland in both hospital and community settings and also overseas. Her fields of experience include midwifery, palliative care, stomal therapy and domiciliary nursing.

She is a kind and cheerful person and is an asset to our practice.


Jenni Parkin Registered Nurse

Jenni is an experienced general practice nurse. She has worked in areas such as midwifery and child & adolescent health including school health visits. Jenni also works locally in aged care which she enjoys and finds very rewarding.

She brings kindness and empathy to our practice, which is much valued.


Abbie Langdon Enrolled Nurse

Abbie is a fully qualified enrolled nurse and is working towards completing further studies to become a registered nurse. She is passionate about aged care having worked in the field in various capacities for more than a decade since high-school and as a nurse since 2009. Abbie enjoys general practice nursing and has a thorough and kind approach to her work.

Outside of work and study she enjoys camping, hiking and the outdoors.
